The charity I have chosen to donate to is the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees. I choose this charity because of a scripture I came across in my bible. The Apostle Paul was a tent maker, at first as a young Christian I thought what an odd profession to have, how can anyone make a living out of making tents?. Then 20 odd years later the penny dropped, I realise he was making tents for the UNHCR for refugees.

Every year millions of children are displaced through no fault of their own through war, famine, flood, crime, landslides. Their homes are often destroyed and they are left orphaned and they have nowhere to go and call a place home. So I want to make sure my money goes to those who provide and make tents for refugees. So often we look at the TV see the make shift tents but never think how much work and effort goes into making a tent to house a whole entire family. We never see how these are distributed to refugees and how they are erected. So the next time you give think about the UNHCR.
